May 7, 2022 Election Update:
The City of Big Sandy holds annual elections on the May uniform election date
(first Saturday in May).
Election Information: The City Council is made up of five members and
all council members are elected "at large." All office holders
for city elective office shall meet the requirements for public office
prescribed by state
and federal law, as well as the City of Big Sandy. They must be registered
voters, residing in the city for at least one year prior to the election and be
at least 21 years of age by the date of the election.

Deadline to file candidate application: February
18, 2022: An application for a place on
the general election ballot must be filed not later than 5 p.m. of the 78th day
before election day. [Sec. 143.007]
Location of next officer election: Polling locations are set by Upshur County
as election date nears. Voters may vote at any polling site within Upshur County.
