The
City of Big Sandy Volunteer Fire Department is a well-trained group of
dedicated volunteers who perform fire suppression and other emergency
related services for the City of Big Sandy and the surrounding
community.
In
addition to serving the residents of Big Sandy, the City of Big Sandy
VFD also has a mutual aid pact with the Upshur County Emergency Services
District to provide the same services to our surrounding community,
assisting nearby departments with equipment and manpower as needed.
The
City volunteer fire department is funded and supported by property
taxes and fire department collections, as well as state and federal
grants and private donations.
During
the past 5 years, thanks to several diligent grant applications, the
Big Sandy VFD has acquired a new fire engine, Attack One, and new
firefighting apparatus and uniforms. We are very thankful for the men
and women who serve on the City of Big Sandy Volunteer Fire Department!
