In an effort to further the City’s goal of maintaining a financially sound government, the City Council voted unanimously on December 16th, 2025 for customers who use a credit or debit card to pay their bills to the City of Big Sandy will pay card processing fees.
All payments made to the City (including but not limited to: court fines, rental fees and utility bills) that are made online, by phone or in person at City Hall with a debit or credit card will pay the card processing fees.
We are gradually implementing this policy as the card processing companies provide new equipment and software. These processing fees will be charged by and paid directly to the card processing companies, not the City of Big Sandy.
There are still several payment options available to our customers that do not have processing fees:
- Cash, check, and money order payments are fee-free.
- Autopay: customers can sign up for autopay by ACH (Automated Clearing House), which is an electronic payment directly from their bank account. The form requesting this service can be downloaded from our website (bigsandytx.gov) or is available at City Hall. There is currently no fee associated with autopay by ACH.
